No matter what type of production a farm is involved in, in the Agriculture industry there are two distinct groups of health and safety measures that need to be taken into account, planned around and implemented.
Firstly, due to the dangerous nature of working in this industry – manual handling, operating machinery, noise pollution, etc – basic occupational health and safety measures need to be implemented to promote and ensure employee welfare.
Secondly, because farms form the basis of food production, it would only make sense to start at the very beginning with hygiene, food safety and quality measures. Products, like foodstuffs, produced by farms can have an massive negative influence on consumer welfare – contaminated/bad products can, for instance, cause food poisoning. This results in even more liabilities for farmers besides the health and safety of their workers.
Moreover, by starting the implementation of health and safety measures on the farms, the reseller (shop owners) has a first line of defence in preventing the selling of bad goods. Also, consumers are protected from the get go to ensure that they continuously purchase and consume maximum quality products and more industry related transparency is enforced.
Additionally, quality animal related products can only be produced by quality animals and therefore we also place a high premium on animal welfare – realising this by, for instance, doing regular abattoir audits and the like.
Our scope of services in the Agriculture industry include, amongst others, the following:
